- Facebook, along with other platforms like Twitter and YouTube, plans on fighting Texas’s new social media “censorship” law.
SNAPCHAT
- Snapchat added a new birthday reminder within the app in hopes of boosting engagement amongst users.
- Will the good bots please identify themselves? Twitter is allowing the “good bots” (whoever they are) to mark themselves with a new label.
- Twitter also announced this week a test of emoji-like reactions on tweets, rolling out very limited initial testing.
- The platform is also testing Communities, topic-based groups within the app, potentially redefining how users interact on the app.
AR, VR, & AI
- What happens when Facebook crosses with Ray-Bans? New smart glasses that will put Google to shame.
- Artificial intelligence can now write its own code with a new technology called Codex. But apparently coders shouldn’t be worried…
NOTEWORTHY
- YouTube expanded access to Community posting this week, lowering the follower minimum.
- TikTok has officially surpassed YouTube in average watch time, according to a new report (as far as Android users go).
VIRAL CONTENT
- This one goes out to all my fellow millennials. Steve from Blue Clues returned this week in a viral video to give us all closure for abruptly leaving the show when we were kids. This tweet is the only appropriate reaction. Along with the memes.
Happy Friday!
